kalpaneyinda Sadhyateyedege- Divisional level tranining series

When a person is well informed/ trained on the subject which he/she is working, productivity always goes up. Same way a grassroots worker, working directly with the Child can perform his/her work with much efficiency, only when he/she is aware of Child Rights and allied issues. Though NGO personnel are doing their best to make our society child friendly, knowing the law, policy, acts and issues pertaining to children for sure will boost their ability and spirit.

But it so happens in the field that, most of the staff/ NGO personnel will not have much knowledge about Children and Child related issues. This could be because of lack of training or organisations  or inability to provide training  as it is an expensive job and lack of funding to make training accessible to freshers as experienced quite the job.

To over come this problem and to make training accessible at affordable price, CRT began training series under the banner Kalpaneyinda Sadhyateyedege. Initially we conducted training at Bengaluru, later on to reach more number of participants we started to conduct training at each division in the state.

After conducting 15 training on various topics allied to Child rights in Bngaluru, we moved on to various divisions and conducted 4 training in 3 division. This time through our training we intended to make schools child friendly. Module was developed with a focus on teachers, BRP, CRP, education department etc. Child Friendly school- A reality.

Through this training we could reach about 150 members, which included Teachers, BRP, CRP, NGO members, people from Education department, parents etc. In association with CIVIC, Bengaluru, Kids , Dharwad , Radio active Bengaluru we could successfully conduct  Friendly school- A reality training series in all the 3 divisions.

Awareness Programme

Do join us in a  awareness programme to seek justice to the Girl (who killed herself after being abused by few men at her home in Chikkajala, Bengaluru ) and her family, and also to boost the morale of the youngsters by giving information about the systems that are existing for the well being of Children, on   12th October at 5 pm near Town hall.

Child Rights trust in association with Sparsha trust, BASCO and APSA has initiated this programme to spread a word among the public and specially to Children not to take extreme steps just because one is humiliated by the abusers and denied the support from the system as we have many child friendly systems which needs to be taped upon.  In this regard, through this programme we intend to create awareness on the systems that are specifically meant for Children and their well being. At the same time we are also urging the system to respond well with those situations when Children are in problems and strengthen the faith about the system among the younger generation.

Art for Child rights- Celebration of Silver Jubliee of United Nations Convention on the rights of THe Child

Save girl child, avoid child labour, educate children, avoid discrimination among children, stop sexual and physical abuse on children, avoid child marriage, etc were the meaningful expressions drawn out when the platform was given for children, adults and artists.

The event got a kick start on 15th Nov as Dr. B Jayashree inaugurated the event by drawing a picture of different moods of Humans. Ms. Ruth Leano, Head Unicef Office for Karnataka, AP and Telangana, Dr. Padmini, Trustee CRT, Mr. Prosun Sen, Communication Specialist, Unicef, Mr. Vasudeva Sharma, Executive Director, CRT, Mr. Roshan, Director Artville, volunteers, participants, children and parents took part in the inauguration held at Metro Rangoli, Bangalore.

Despite of 25 years of implementing the rights for Children, most of us are still ignorant about the the rights that are best suited for providing a better childhood and a bright future for every Child. Understan
ding this reality, we at  KCRO (CRT) with the support from Unicef and Artville  opened a forum called Art for Child Rights- a live painting event pertaining to Child Rights. Keeping this forum as a means we campaigned in colleges, public places, schools, universities, malls to draw attention and persuaded people to take part in the event as the art has no boundaries. Through this we intended to publicise more about UNCRC to general public as well as to Children.

Live Painting event went on for two days grabbing more number of professional artists, amateurs and Children. The event was held on 15 and 16th November 2014 at Metro Rangoli, M G Road, Bangalore. The paintings were exhibited for about 2 days for public viewing.

Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Child Rights

Nearly 25 years ago, the world made a promise to its children - that we would do everything in our power to protect and promote their rights – to survive and thrive, to learn and grow, to make their voices heard and to reach their full potential.
These rights of children were guaranteed by the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 20th November 1989, which changed the way children are viewed and treated – as human beings with a distinct set of rights, instead of as passive objects of care and charity. The CRC is the most widely ratified international human rights treaty in the history of the world. India became a signatory to this convention in 1992

There is much to celebrate as we approach the 25th anniversary of the CRC - CRC@25 – in India: from declining infant mortality to rising school enrolment. But this historic milestone must also serve as an urgent reminder that our work is far from finished. Progress, unfortunately, has not reached every child and in our country there are still children who officially do not exist because they have no birth certificates; children who go to sleep hungry; children who do not go to school; children who endure abuse, sexual assault; some neglected, uncared for and unloved; some forced to work; some forced to marry while they are still children, while some are yet to enjoy their full rights on par with their peers.

The CRC@25 is a great opportunity to pay tribute to the growing recognition of children as right-holders, celebrate the milestones achieved on their behalf, and draw attention to the road ahead in ensuring that all children are given the best chance in life to reach their highest potential.
In the background of Children’s Nov. 14th and CRC@25 Karnataka Child Rights Observatory (KCRO) along with its member organisations, Karnataka State Legislators Forum for Child Rights and UNICEF with Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and Artville School of Art is organising various programmes and activities in Bengaluru from 10th to 19th of Nov. 2014.
