Chikkaballapur, a newly formed district in the state of Karnataka is way ahead in producing agricultural products and silk in spite of drought yet lags behind in issues relating to Children and their Rights. For about 2000 children in the district (Statistics given by Education department ) who are out of school mostly engaged in silk industry, this shows the meagre interest of citizens towards education and basic rights of children. Understanding this shocking situation RTE task force had started a chapter in Chikkaballapur dist.
Through this task force we aim to build a network among the NGos working in the district and create awareness on rights of Children with major focus on RTE act 2009. In this regard a TOT was organised by task force on 12th and 13th of August at Chikkaballapur. For about 40 participants from various NGOs, Child welfare Committee, Child Protection Unit across the district took part in the training. Here participants were trained about RTE act, Child rights, state rules, 25% reservation, Education- Child Labour, uses and methods of Lobbying and advocacy etc.
