Inauguration of RTE Task force- Gadag Branch

Gadag, one among 30 districts in the state of Karnataka, where the implementation of RTE is still in the back seat. Understanding this reality RTE task force with the support from India Literacy Project(ILP) has started a RTE Task force branch at Gadag on 23rd June, 2014. Through this the task force is aiming to create awareness , sensitize about the benefits of RTE and work towards strengthening the School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC) in Govt. Schools.

Enthusiast Students took part in awareness Jatha
The Gadag branch was inaugurated by Mr. Umesh Aradhya, Chairman, Commission for protection of Child Rights, Bangalore by lighting the Lamp at Zilla Panchayat hall. Our objective of creating awareness, got a kick start on day one, even before the inauguration through Jatha. Hundreds of students from various schools of Gadag, members of Education department, Social welfare department, Department of Women and Children took part in awareness Jatha spreading the message on importance of Education, benefits of RTE by slogans and through pamphlets. To ignite  the senses among the public, Street play on importance of Education and ill effects of Child Labour  were also staged.

Mr. Venkatesh Nayak, Member KCPCR, Mr. Rajendra Prasadh, Deputy Director, Education Department, Mr. H S Parameshwarappa, Director, DWCD, Mr. Vasudeva Sharma, Executive Director, CRT, Mrs. Bharathi from District Child protection Unit, Gadag were present in the inaugural function. A book pertaining to education rights Chitra Malike by Mr. Vasudeva Sharma was released.
